Weekend Trip to Colorado Springs

This weekend’s getaway is a nice little weekend trip to Colorado. There is so much to do in Colorado but this weekend was a relaxing, sight seeing, road trip.

THE MASON JAR RESTAURANT

First stop an old favorite. . The Mason Jar. The ambiance here is so cozy and country chic, its always a treat to stop.

And you guessed it they serve all the drinks in mason jars. Very southernish food choices that are so good. We shared a chicken fried steak and it was very good. I think the homemade gravy was my favorite.

MANITOU SPRINGS

At about 35 degrees and foggy we didn’t spend a lot of time here. It was nice to walk around and work off our Mason Jar meal and take in the sights. Here are few of the things we passed.

GARDEN OF THE GODS

Garden of the Gods is a national park comprised of beautiful sandstone formations. Its one of Colorado’s must see natural beauties. The visitor center has so much information on the formation of these rocks and the wildlife and vegetation. It is such a beautiful sight to see!

They have a great gift shop and a variety of things in the Cafe.

As you can see it is so cold and foggy. We really saw nothing on this overlook.

Fog or no fog we still headed into the rocks to check it out. These are definitely not the best pictures but there is a kind of calm and coziness to them. We certainly enjoyed ourselves.

The roads are RV friendly and there are plenty of places to park and get out and see the sights throughout all the loops.

PUEBLO COLORADO

The plan was to stay overnight in Colorado Springs and use one of the Walmarts to do that. Welllllll surprise, surprise Colorado Springs does not allow overnight parking at their Walmarts. So I got online and used the ‘RV Parky’ app to locate a place to stay. In Pueblo Colorado there is one Walmart that allows overnights. So we packed up and headed there.

Honestly it was too cold and frigid in Colorado Springs anyway so off to the next stop!

This Walmart was so nice and quiet. So happy we found it and were able to stay without interruption.

As an added bonus on our way out, there was a Country Kitchen restaurant. I haven’t been to one of these in years! It was so good! Those pancakes really were the “best in town.”

A quick weekend trip to Colorado is the fun and relaxing time that the doctor ordered. Next stop is Fort Union in New Mexico. . . . . thanks for trippin with me!
