Tesla Road Trip: New Mexico to Nevada

This year our RV was in the shop and wasn’t ready in time for a Vegas trip. So I decided to be adventurous and take the Tesla. Although Ive driven the Tesla to Colorado Ive never taken it all the way to Nevada. I was eager to see how much a roundtrip cost would be compared to the diesel RV.

First stop: Tesla Supercharger in Gallup, NM. This supercharger location was nice. The bathrooms were close by inside the best western, they were nice and clean. the only thing I didnt like was the lack of food options. They have some snacks in the hotel, but the food restaurants were pretty far to walk.

This battery charge only cost: $10.67 and we were there for about 15 mins.

Next stop was the Tesla Supercharger in Holbrook, AZ. This stop was located in the parking lot of a Burger King. This was nice because we were pretty hungry.

This battery charge cost: $14.40 and we were there for about 20 mins.

Next stop was the Tesla Supercharger in Flagstaff, AZ. Be careful going to this one, my navigation kept trying to take me in a different direction as I got close to the turn. This is located next to a hotel. Its kind of tight and busy here. The bathrooms are nice but you have to climb the stairs and walk to the front of the hotel to get there. No food choices in walking distance since this is situated on a hill. We picked up some Cane’s on the way in just to be safe.

This battery charge cost: $8.46 and we were there for about 15 mins.

Next stop was the Tesla Supercharger outside of Las Vegas, NV in White Hills, AZ. This one was at a gas station, which I always enjoy because they have food and neat shopping. There is a Subway in here and the bathrooms were nice too.

This battery charge cost: $22.50 and we were there for about 30 mins. As you can see it was very hot here at about 108 degrees.

As we were leaving, we charged at the Tesla Supercharger next to the LINQ by the strip in Las Vegas, NV. This is a popular charging station, it’s the largest one Ive ever been to with 24 superchargers and the parking was covered with solar panels. It was very secure; the car gave you an access code in order to get into the parking lot. In order to leave without paying, you could not exceed an hour. I felt very safe here, it was nice. No food or bathrooms unless you walked onto the LINQ.

This battery charge cost: $6.95 and we were there for about 10 mins.

This was a very fun trip. It was so nice driving in autopilot and a new experience with traveling to Las Vegas in our Tesla. As you can see each charge was significantly less than paying for gas. I showed the trips from NM to LV and we stopped at the same charging locations on the way back.

The entire trip cost around $100 round trip compared to the normal cost of driving our RV of $400. Super money saver and really not alot of time at the chargers. Thanks for tripping with me in the Tesla!
