Trippin to Texas: The Big Texan Restaurant

For this trip we are Texas bound! Traveling all the way to Lindale TX (11 hour trip) and making some stops along the way.

Trying to get some hours out of the way, we left in the evening and made it to Adrian, TX where we found a nice little lot next to a gas station and spent the night in the RV next to some Semi Drivers. We woke up to beautiful views of the windmills and those flat green Texas pastures I love!

I whipped up some healthy breakfast burritos and headed towards Amarillo

Next stop was the Big Texan Restaurant for lunch. There were so many bill boards advertising this place on the way here. They are famous for their 72oz steak contest, where if you eat the whole thing plus sides its free. Sounds rough if you ask me!

Look at all the fun things they have here!

The decor here is so neat and theres so much to look at and take photos with.

Before you enter the restaurant there is a fudge and treat bar, a coffee bar, and an old fashioned arcade.

All very cool things! The restaurant was even cooler!

They serve the drinks in plastic take home cups that tell the story of someone who won the 72 oz steak contest. Our meals came with the most delicious country rolls and super fresh salads. . sooo good!

We ordered a bbq combo plate and a 9oz ribeye. Let me tell you guys that the steak was the best steak Ive ever had! The bbq was up there too! All so good, definitely a must try!

There was even entertainment, this guy serenaded us with some Johnny Cash.

As we were about to leave there was a contestant who ordered the 72oz steak! There he is at the elevated table in the center of the restaurant where the lady is reading out the rules. Super cool!

On the way out we hit the gift shop. Here’s a little of what they had:

Next door is the Frontier Hotel that looks like a little town in the old west

That was such a wonderful lunch and a nice little tourist adventure to kick off our trip. On to the next town. . .
