Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas, NV 2021
Every year the Star Trek Convention is hosted in Las Vegas Nevada at the Rio hotel. A large number of celebrities from the various shows and movies attend this conference with thousands of adoring fans showing up in full costume ready to enjoy themselves amongst all the fandom.
As an avid Star Trek fan I decided to craft up some costumes, jump in the RV and check it out!
You know you’ve arrived when you see a shuttle craft parked outside 😀
The entrance was beautiful! So many people and things to see while we waited in line to register.
SAFETY CHECKS
I failed to read all the requirements before I arrived and forgot my vaccine card. So ya girl had to take an onsite Covid test. It took 10 mins and was negative 🙂
You had to get your “prop” weapons checked. To make sure they aren’t real I suppose.
They were also checking bags and using a metal detectors to check everyone.
EXHIBITS & PROPS
Once inside there were tons of props set up celebrating Gene Roddenberry’s centennial. I really enjoyed the props that were backgrounds from different episodes. The original series museum was very unique as well. Such fun!
VENDOR AREA
The vendor area is the best! So many star trek vendors with unique things to buy. You need a Star Trek coffee table? No problem! Been searching for some Star Trek legging all your life, you’ve come to the right place. How bout a pet Tribble. . . yaaaasss!
CELEBRITY SPEAKERS
Multiple conference rooms housed different speakers. But the main theater was where all the stars were. The door in the middle of the main stage is where the celebrities came out. . its exactly like the doors on Star Trek!
William Shatner was fun to watch and the entire theater was full for his appearance. My absolute favorite was Kelsey Grammar! He talked about Frasier and Cheers too! I was in heaven!
COSPLAY
As you can see from the above pictures most convention attendees were in some sort of costumes. We were no different.
Souvenirs
With such a vast vendor area of course I had to take away some souvenirs! The two missing Star Trek glasses from our collection, a rare Hallmark Star Trek ornament to add to our Christmas tree collection, and a Dax figurine for my desk :D.
Las Vegas was a hot 110 degrees but it was a blast! I can’t wait to go back! Thanks for tripping to the Star Trek convention with me!
