Puerto Vallarta Shopping, Art, Tequila Tasting and More. .
Our first excursion in Mexico was a city walk tour. A tour guide took us, and about 5 other people, in an air conditioned van all over the city to view the sights, shop, candy tasting, Tequila tasting, and ending in a delicious meal.
The first part of the tour was walking around the heart of the city. We spent a little time browsing through the markets. They had such beautiful things! Our tour guide was great and she said everything in Spanish and English so everyone could understand.
There were so many art galleries in this area. Very different stuff, it was amazing.
Next stop: Candy tasting! Our tour guide took us to a little hole in the wall with the most wonderful homemade Mexican candies. We tasted everything from candied nuts to coconut infused with Tequila. Very delicious.
We purchased the coconut infused with tequila, this tastes like the inside of a mounds bar with a hint of Tequila :D.
Next we went to a Jewelry store where they sold Fire Opal. They taught us how it is mined and how to identify a fake. They had beautiful things and they served free Margarita’s.
Look at the beautiful Fire Opal ring I purchased here. . none like it!
The leather shop was very unique. They showed us how they make shoes and their was a museum upstairs.
This was a unique experience. They had beautiful leather pieces for purchase and they gave us a cold Modelo while we shopped.
We entered the Sierra Madre for a tropical jungle lunch and the Tequila tasting.
We didnt get to eat until about 2:30pm, we soon found out that this was the norm on these tours. We were all starving by the time we arrived.
The ambiance was tropical and you could hold the animals, even the monkeys.
Los Veranos restaurant had a bunch of different food and drink options. We ordered the Margarita Cadillac and a vanilla mojito (below in green). The Margaritas were ok but that mojito was the best one Ive ever had! It is green because the mint was blended into it. We all opted for the Ceviche and fajitas. They were served with freshly made corn tortillas and corn chips. Delish!
FINALLY it was time for the Tequila tasting!
They split our group into two and we had a Tequila tasting guide. This man was very knowledgable and explained the process of making tequila and the different types of tequila.
The Tequila was smooth and high quality. In addition to the Tequila pictured below, we also sampled liquored creams and agave honey all made by this company. So good!
This tour took a total of 5 hours and was really fun. We were all very tired on the way back to the hotel. I think my favorite part of the day was the tequila tasting, it was so unique to the region. Hope you all enjoyed the first excursion!
