Grandma’s Traditional Chicharrones
As a child, my favorite thing to eat was my grandma’s homemade Chicharrones. They weren’t made very often, but I will always remember the taste of those crunchy little morsels wrapped in a warm homemade flour tortilla.
I enjoy making these for my family today. Here’s how:
Start out with a package of Pork fat. This isn’t always easy to find at a chain grocery store, I usually get it at a local grocery store.

Next chop all of it up into tiny pieces. Some people like fatter chicharrones but grandma made them small like popcorn š
Place them in a frying pan on medium heat. They take a while to cook, about 20 mins.
Not done yet. . . .

Now they are done. . . look at all that grease. Noone said these were a low fat food haha!
I paired them with some beans, fideo, and fresh chopped green chile from Hatch, NM.

As a bonus you can save all the remaining oil from the pan and have Lard for cooking.
