Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Campground
Jellystone Park is a chain of camp style resorts with 75 locations in Canada and the US there are lots of locations to choose from. There is theming throughout the park of Hanna Barbera’s Yogi Bear cartoon.
Since we are RV road tripping through Texas we chose the East Texas Jellystone park to spend our summer vacation.
Right off the country road behind a bunch of trees is this little hidden gem. You would never know all this was back here by just driving by. Woodsy little hideaway.
Check in was quick and they gave us a key card for the entry gate, a map, schedule of activities, and QR code for their app. They read out the main rules to you which were strict policies about alcohol only being allowed at your campsite, no illegal drugs, and adherence to the 5 mile per hour speed limit.
Off to our campsite. I chose a site that was close to the pools. There are water, electric, and sewer hookups at everysite. Our site was the least expensive being the economy. Other sites had covered patios.
Check out our beautiful view of the lake from our campsite. Definitely 10 degrees cooler here compared with before we entered the campsite.
I was really impressed with the shade and aesthetic of this campsite, I could sit out here all day!
Now that we were hooked up we explored the campground. I just love all the Yogi bear character theming! There were turtles walking around, a wooden playground, tractor for hay rides, and a little shaded community pavilion to relax.
The most beautiful part was the lake. I would love to come back here and stay in a cabin lakeside, look how wonderful!
It was about 90 degrees during our stay and talk about humidity! Super hot, so the pool was very refreshing.
They have a family pool and an adult pool. It was SO nice to have both options and we spent most our time in the less busy, less splashy adult pool.
As read to us during check-in, no alcohol is allowed at the pool, which was a bummer.
The family pool had lots of slides and playthings, it looked fun and was always busy.
If your hungry they have snack bar in between both pools. Unfortunately we didn’t see this til the last day and only ordered some cookies from here. But man those snack bar nachos were calling my name!
There was a little outdoor theater where they showed family friendly movies every night at 8pm. We stopped by one of the nights where they were playing Disney’s live action Jungle Book. It was neat.
Every morning at 10am they do a flag ceremony with a “famous bear.” Meaning one of the Yogi bear characters. We went to this one morning, it was cute, our famous bear happened to by Yogi himself. All the kids from the campground yelled good morning to Yogi bear and we all said the pledge of allegiance. Fun.
The giftshop was at the building where we checked in so during checkout we grabbed us some cool shirts and they came with this commemorative bag.
At $50 for the economy site with $5 additional per person per night this was an inexpensive way to enjoy our summer vacation. Prices for food and snacks were normal grocery store prices too. This park was so much fun and worth the long drive to get here, highly recommend.
